News - Silicon Photonics: Challenges and Future Report

In January 2007, a Silicon Photonics forum was organized by the OIDA. This forum
discussed several aspects on the status of Silicon Photonics. The meeting was organized
and moderated by Bill Ring. Several leading companies in the industry, including Intel,
Kotura and Luxtera discussed key technology progress in this area. The work of several
European and US researchers discussed progress on photonic integration technology and
emission of light from silicon structures, complementing the sessions from industry
participants.
As the OIDA organizer, a report was prepared by Bill Ring on the forum and has been
released by the OIDA. This report is available through the OIDA book store and is also
available through research and markets, a Dublin based company.
